MARTHA ‘BOBBIE’ HENEGAR PARKS

Martha “Bobbie” Henegar Parks, 85, Clinton, passed away April 2, 2017, at The Waters of Clinton.

She was a member of Glory Way Baptist Church. Throughout her life she loved crafting, gardening, but most of all quilting.

Preceded in death by: Husband, Ralph Parks; mother, Hazel Guy Lynch; father, Pete Henegar; sister, Mildred Henegar Quillen.

She is survived by: Sons, Gary (Teresa) Parks, Tony (Sheila) Parks; daughters, Beverly (David) McGill, Lynda (Billy) Lowe; grandchildren, Lynda (Chris) Richards, Keith (Shanda) Parks, Martha “MJ” (Arnie) Meredith, Marisa (Jeremiah) Montgomery, Erin (Lucas) Brummett, Jessica Lowe (Jason Linkes), Kayla Evans (Slade), Shannon Parks, Jamie (Shelley) Phillips; great-grandchildren, Arnie, Bethany, Sierra, Bryson, Clay, Victoria, Brooklyn, Andrew, Payton, Sarah, Bryce, Landon, Emmalea, Finley Rose; expected great-grandson; expected great-great-grandson, Tucker; sister, Jean Violette; several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 4, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home. Her graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 5, 2017, at Woodlawn Cemetery, in LaFollette.

Pallbearers will be David McGill, Keith Parks, Jamie Phillips, Chris Richards, Andrew Richards, and Billy Lowe.

EMILY MAE BOLINGER DAVIS

Emily Mae Bolinger Davis, Oak Ridge and formerly of Lake City, passed away peacefully Sunday, April 2, 2017 at NHC Nursing Home/Hospice.

Emily was born July 1, 1920, in Anderson County to the late Eli and Ina Beets Bolinger.

Mrs. Davis was a Charter Member of Clear Branch Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was the 1937 Lake City High School Validictorian. Emily and her dear sister, Jeanie, married two of the Davis Brothers. She proudly contributed to our country’s World War II victory while working in Oak Ridge’s Secret City to assist building the bomb while her husband served for five long years overseas. Emily loved cooking for her family - especially her award winning chocolate pie and turkey dressing. She enjoyed reading and cheering on the University of Tennessee Vols. Her Christian faith and family were her world.

Emily is preceded in death by: Husband, Cledith Davis; sister and brother-in-law, Jeanie and Burrell Davis; and brother, Harley Bolinger.

Mrs. Davis is survived by: Son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie (Ron) and Christal Davis of West Liberty, Ohio; grandchildren, Allison and Neil Chandler of Jacksonville, Fla., Veronica Davis of Orange Park, Fla., Trevor Davis of West Liberty, Ohio; great-grandsons, Aidan and Ryan Chandler of Jacksonville, Fla.; special nephews, Gary Davis and DeWayne Davis.

The family will receive family and friends from 1 – 2 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Lake City. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Randy Norton officiating.

The graveside service and internment will follow immediately at Leach Cemetery in Lake City.

ROSETTA SEXTON

Rosetta Sexton, 94, Lake City, passed away Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Summit View of Rocky Top.

She was born May 5, 1922, in Scott County to the late William and Mary Hutson Crabtree. Rosetta was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Christian Fellowship Church for many years.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents; husband, Hubert Sexton; sons, Hubert Sexton Jr. and Henry Sexton; and daughter, Wilma Hawkins.

Survivors: Daughters, Mary Sexton of Clinton, Marie Hayes of Lake City; son, Johnny Sexton and wife Pam of Clemens, Mich.; daughter-in-law, Emma Sue Sexton of Lake City; 22 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren; along with many other family members and friends.

Visitation was from 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City. Funeral service was at 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Justin Phillips officiating.

Friends and family met at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday, March 29, 2017, at the Hatmaker Funeral Home to go in funeral procession to the Leach Cemetery in Lake City for an 11 a.m. interment.

JERRY L. SHULTZ

Jerry L. Shultz, 74, Lake City, passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at his residence.

Jerry was born July 29, 1942, in Anderson County to the late Luther and Pearl McMahan Shultz. He was a member of Clinch River Baptist Church in Lake City. Jerry loved to help people, garden, and travel.

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Dockery.

Survivors: Wife, Lynn Webb Shultz of Maryville; sons, Rick Shultz and Shauna of Lake City, Kent Shultz of Clinton, Ronald Gervais of Knoxville, John Webb Gervais of Springfield, Mo.; sister, Pearlie and Gary Snider of Lake City; grandchildren, KC Shultz, Ashley Wilson and Joseph of Clinton; great-grandchildren, Jackson and Kolton Wilson.

Visitation was from 2 – 4 p.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Hatmaker Funeral Home in Lake City. A Celebration of Life Service followed visitation Saturday, April 1, 2017, in the Hatmaker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Byrge officiating.

THELMA BRADSHAW PHILLIPS

Thelma Bradshaw Phillips, 93, Andersonville, went to be with the Lord Monday, March 20, 2017.

She was born March 6, 1924, in Coal Creek.

She was preceded in death by: Parents, David and Louisa Bradshaw; infant brothers, David, James, and Franklin; sister, Shirley Bradshaw; father and mother-in-law, Horace and Sarah Phillips; brothers and sisters-in-law, Virgil and Lula Rogers, Bill and Jewell Powers, H.M. and Cheryl Phillips; brother-in-law, Ray Kilgore; nephews, William Bradshaw, Walter Rogers, and Tommy Rogers; niece, Angela Kilgore; beloved husband, George Phillips.

Thelma was a devoted Christian who was a member of First Baptist Church in Andersonville. She was devoted to her family and community. Thelma and her husband George were active for many years at the Museum of Appalachia and enjoyed a close friendship with John Rice Irwin. At home she loved to sew and work in her garden. Her greatest love was her family.

Beloved mother of David and Charlotte Phillips, Stacey and Howard Tuggle, Emmanuel and Debbie Phillips; beloved grandmother of Shannon Plemons, Tania Cook, Matthew Phillips, Rebecca Phillips, Jeremiah and April Tuggle, Sarah Tuggle, Jacob and Misty Phillips, Zachary Phillips, Ethan and Tara Phillips; beloved great-grandmother of Haleigh Plemons, Caleb Plemons, Isaiah Plemons, Austin Cook, Madalyn Phillips, Alexander Tuggle, and Raigan Rose.

She is also survived by: Brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Shirley Bradshaw; sister, Margie Kilgore, nieces and nephews, Kim Siebe, Steve Kilgore, Janet Catton, Cindy Daniels, Karen Angarole, Michelle Miller, Kathy Snellings, Tim Bradshaw, Bill Powers, Lynn Justice, Rocky Phillips, Wayne Rogers, Linda Ihander, Carlene Marcum; numerous great-nieces and nephews; special cousins, Sandra Foust, Maggie Phillips; special friends, Faye Bumgardner, Gladys O’dell, Kathleen Wallace, Evelyn Green, Carolyn Stengel, Michael Foust, John Rice Irwin, Melissa and Floyd Anderson and Judy Byrge.

The family will held a funeral service at noon Thursday, March 23, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home with the Rev. David Seiber officiating.

EDSEL L. WEAVER

Edsel L. Weaver, 94, Heiskell, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017, at his residence.

Edsel was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army Air Corp and served his country in World War II. He owned and operated Weaver’s Auto Parts in Clinton. Throughout his life he loved to fish, work on cars, and was a man who loved life.

Preceded in death by: Wife, Mable Weaver; parents, Monroe and Mary Weaver; grandson, Tracy Weaver; brother, Paul Weaver.

He is survived by: Son, Eddy Weaver and wife Dianna of Heiskell; daughter, Barbara Weaver of Naples, Fla.; grandchildren, Kelli Randolph and husband Edmond of Powell, Craig Keller and wife Samantha of Cordova; several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 5 – 7 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home. His funeral service followed in the chapel with the Rev. Charles Tindell, the Rev. Kenneth Snow, the Rev. Jack Gwinn.

Edsel’s graveside was at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at Norris Memorial Garden with full military honors at graveside.

MRS. JANICE ANN GOFORTH

Mrs. Janice Ann Goforth, 72, of the Eagle Creek Community, Holladay, Tenn., passed away March 19, 2017, at her residence.

Mrs. Goforth was born Jan. 6, 1945, in Anderson County. She was a retired housekeeper with Best Western Motel in Camden, Tenn., and attended Calvary Baptist Church.

Survived by: Husband, James Goforth; daughters, Lisa (Ben Thompson, Diane White; brothers, Vaughn (Carolyn) Ridenour, Harry (Janet) Ridenour, Larry (Georgia) Ridenour, Bobby (Susan) Ridenour, Dewane Ridenour, Jackie (Connie) Ridenour; sisters, Peggy (Steve) Turpin, Rhonda (Wayne) Hatmaker, Debra (Tom) Barton; grandchildren, Beth (Adam) Walker, Ashley (Sam) Carter, Hannah Thompson, Joseph White, Jackie (Zach) Ballard; great-grandchildren, Tucker, Dawson, Annie, Maggie, Reese, Remy, Hunter, Haley, Alexa, and Laiklyn.

Preceded in death by: Father, Millard Herman Ridenour; mother, Dixie Humphrey Ridenour; brothers, James Ridenour, Leonard Ridenour.

Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Oakdale Funeral, Camden, Tenn., with Bro. Jeffrey Lankford officiating.

Burial followed at Eagle Creek Cemetery in Holladay, Tenn.

Visitation with the Goforth family was from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, 2017.

MR. FLOY A. WELLS JR.

Mr. Floy A. Wells Jr., 85, Clinton, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2017.

Mr. Wells was a retired supervisor with Union Carbide at Y-12. He was a veteran of the United States United States Army. He was a member and past master of Andersonville Valley Lodge #383 and 32nd degree Scottish Rite.

Preceded in death by: Parents, Floy A. Sr. and Flora Bridges Wells; sister, Billie Morris.

He is survived by:

Son, Mitchell Stand and wife Kimberly Ann Wells of Sweetwater; daughter, Sherry and husband David Humphrey of Clinton; grandchildren, Brandon Curtis Wells, Alysha Tackett and husband Michael, Arien Woods and husband Derrick; great-grandchildren, Connor Tackett, Catelyn Tackett, Lacy Lambert, Natalie Woods, Cordelia Woods; several nieces and nephews.

The family received friends 5 – 7 p.m. Sunday, March 26, 2017, at Holley Gamble Funeral Home.

A Masonic Service was held at 7 p.m. with a funeral service to follow in the chapel with the Rev. Ronald Guthrie officiating. Family and friends met at 1 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2017, at the funeral home and go in procession to Anderson Memorial Garden for a graveside service at 2 p.m.
